Above pictured is what otherwise would be a perfect flow report for pre-E-14, with Rock Creek flowing today @ 1,690 cfs…here’s the rub: (a) there is still a TON of snow in the upper climes yet to come downstream (as in the Bitterroot Valley’s Saddle Mountain this time of year normally has snow water equivalent [“swe”] of 5.5 inches but today has a swe of 13.5 inches and as in Twin Lakes has 13.5 inches swe today as compared to a 20 year norm of 5.5 inches] and (b) as you can see from the water color in the attached photo, the tannin color associated with the runoff has yet to bleed out, thereby hampering its fishability. That being said, we are putting one boat out on Rock Creek this Friday and I will have a fresh fishing report on that special stream come Friday eve!
